via delle Botteghe Oscure 31
Roma

This is Rome's Medieval Museum. It is housed in the residential quarters of the ancient restored portico at the theatre of the Field of Mars, and is divided into two sections: archaeology and history of an urban environment which bears witness to the development of cities in general from the ancient world through to the XX century, and that of Rome from the ancient world into the medieval one, displaying its development between the V and the IX centuries. The museum is theme-oriented, with panels showing the archaeological discoveries which are put into context with documents, pictures, reconstructions, plastic models and so on. There are details of daily life and manufacturing activities, with archaeological artefacts, workshop items and personal belongings (such as jewels, coins, glass objects and so on)
